We get to hear about a lot of new innovations in the coffee business but really wanted to share this with you.

It’s called the Frugal Cup - the world’s first recyclable coffee cup made from recycled paper. It was created in response to the worldwide debate on the difficulty of recycling normal cups and recently featured in The Observer.

Unlike conventional or compostable cups that use virgin paperboard and are laminated or coated with plastic making them hard to recycle, the Frugal Cup is made from 96% recycled paperboard with no chemicals and uses a food-grade liner.

A recent independent Life Cycle Analysis found the Frugal Cup has a carbon footprint up to 60% lower than conventional and compostable cups.

UK Manufactured, Frugal Cups come in 8oz, 12oz and 16oz sizes in a range of designs or your own bespoke option. They are already being used in independent coffee shops across the UK and institutions like the London School of Economics. The company behind the cup, Frugalpac even provide paper lids!
